Norman Cowan, who heads the business recovery department at Wilder Coe LLP, has just become a member of the Network of Independent Forensic Accountants (NIFA) which has just 22 members nationwide.

Forensic accountancy is a specialist area in which practitioners use their accounting, audit and investigative skills to examine financial information to establish the true facts of the situation. They are frequently used in fraud cases, with NIFA members work chiefly for lawyers and insurers

NIFA members each operate exclusively in different areas of the country, although providing help and support to each other where required. Norman will be covering the Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire area, which had previously had no NIFA coverage.

To qualify for membership, he had to submit a specimen report to demonstrate to NIFA that his work met their high quality standards.

He said: “I am delighted to have been accepted for membership of this highly regarded professional organisation.

“Through NIFA, clients can draw on members’ vast pool of knowledge and experience, which includes preparing reports in legal cases and acting as expert witnesses in court proceedings. Our area-based approach also means that our expertise is never too far away.”

Norman has more than 40 years’ experience as a chartered accountant and is a licensed insolvency practitioner. He is also a member of the Expert Witness Institute and the Institute of Chartered Arbitrators.
