Norman Cowan was a guest speaker at a conference held by the Professional Negligence Lawyers Association. The association was set up in 2004 to provide expertise to resolve problems when clients are in dispute with a professional.

Norman, a chartered accountant for more than 40 years and a licensed insolvency practitioner, addressed the Bristol meeting on the approach that an Insolvency Practitioner can take to avoid challenges to their conduct or fees, stressing the need for impartiality and fairness at all times.

He said: “While it was a little daunting to address a gathering of lawyers on matters of the law, I was honoured to be asked to speak at the meeting and to share some of my own expertise.

“Lawyers and accountants are invariably brought together for various reasons, so this kind of insight into each other’s work is an effective tool for increasing mutual understanding and awareness between our professions.”
