There has been a recent rise in the number of scam emails and other communications received by taxpayers from fraudsters pretending to be HM Revenue & Customs and requesting personal financial details in order to issue non-existent refunds. In reality once details are provided, the fraudsters attempt to draw funds from the client’s bank account.
