Companies House announce that the voluntary strike off process will recommence 10 September 2020

Companies House confirmed today that they would be now resuming voluntary strike-offs from 10 September, following their temporary suspension during the lockdown period.

The current easement for voluntary dissolutions applies to applications that were registered with Companies House before 10 July 2020. If you have filed an application to strike off your company after 10 July 2020, these changes will not affect your company.

However, compulsory strike-offs for failure to file accounts or confirmation statements would still be held in abeyance for the time being to give companies more time to recover from this difficult working environment.

They have indicated that this will be subject to regular review.

Ian Saunders, Partner and Head of Company Secretarial services has stated that “This is good news for companies who have been completely unable to deal with their normal filing requirements but who may have a perfectly viable business as lockdown eases.”
