On 28th October and 11th November 2023, several brave Wilder Coe staff members decided to test their limits by abseiling down the ArcelorMittal Orbit in Stratford, London for Cancer Hair Care.
Rebecca Shepherd, a semi-senior bookkeeper within our Hertfordshire-based Accounting Support department, took part in the abseil and described the experience: “It was incredible to see the views from the top! It was a unique experience doing it freefall rather than against a building. Cancer Hair Care is a vital charity close to my family’s heart due to the invaluable help they provide.”
Every year, Wilder Coe nominates a charity that is personal to our staff members and commits to various fundraising challenges to raise money in support. Cancer Hair Care has helped several of our team and their families during challenging times, and in total, the firm raised £2,166 throughout various activities in 2023. A huge congratulations to Bee-Lean Chew, Andrea Hooper, Helen Yates, Thomas Williams, Jack, Matteo Sabelli, Fabian Javad, Ed Clowes, and Luke Morris for their bravery in descending the ArcelorMittal Orbit.
As a specialist charity, Cancer Hair Care is dedicated to giving free, comprehensive support to adults, children and young people experiencing hair loss during cancer treatments. They aim to provide emotional and practical assistance – in person through hospital clinics, pamper and salon mornings, or over the telephone and via online support – to help patients manage the impact of hair loss with dignity and confidence. The charity offers personalised consultations, advice on scalp care, and guidance on choosing wigs, headscarves, and other headwear.
Additionally, by providing free workshops and educational resources for patients, carers, and healthcare professionals, the charity increases understanding and support during this challenging time. By collaborating with hospitals and cancer centres, Cancer Hair Care ensures services are accessible to those in need, whilst promoting research and innovation in hair care solutions for cancer patients, striving to improve the quality of life for individuals undergoing treatment. With a compassionate and holistic approach, Cancer Hair Care empowers patients to face their journey with strength and positivity, making a meaningful difference in their lives.
